President’s Message

May 2024

70th ANNIVERSARY is this year in October. Chris Craig is working on pins and Jon Traw is working on shirts to commemorate the clubs, Platinum Jubilee. We are also working on a date and location for a Barbecue luncheon sometime in September or October, stay tuned.
CLUB BREAKFAST: The May club breakfast was held at the Goldenwest Diner. The Goldenwest Diner is on the south-east corner of Goldenwest St. and Garden Grove Blvd. It is an old Spires Restaurant. The reviews from those that attended were all positive, so that’s where we are going in May. If there are other suggestions, please email or text me the location. I am always open to new and exciting culinary experiences. The show and tell at the April general meeting went very well. Gene Carrothers brought a cut off drive shaft and explained how it worked with a Warford transmission. Mike Hewitt brought in a set of floating rear hubs. Mike is going to put them in his T and give us a report later. Carl Laski brought in a very interesting item. It was a fishing kit for a pilot that would have had to ditch their plane at sea. It was a bundle like a tool wrap, containing several drop-lines, sinkers, cork bobbers and hooks. I wonder if these are still used today. If you have something that might be of interest to the group, please bring it to the next meeting for show and tell. SHIRTS: During the April Meeting we took the orders for 70th anniversary shirts. The shirt will be a black wash and wear polo with an anniversary loco on the left chest. If you were not there and would like a shirt, please do the following. Text me or send an email to longbeachmodeltclub@gmail.com with the following information.

NAME / SHIRT SIZE / NUMBER OF SHIRTS DESIRED.

PROGRAMS: I am looking for speakers for July, September, October, and November. Please send any suggestions to me by Text or send an email to longbeachmodeltclub@gmail.com. I am looking forward to Gary Guacci’s presentation at the May 9th meeting. REMEMBER IF YOU DON’T HAVE YOUR BADGE AT THE MEETING IT WILL COST A DOLLAR TO GET IN.

Respectfully Submitted,

Tim O’Gorman
